In a previous article, I mentioned one way to keep the flu away this season is by using castor oil packs. However, many may not know what exactly that is!
Castor oil has historically become known as a go-to way of healing. For example, when it comes to inflammation, hyperthyroidism, pelvic pain, digestive problems, fibroids, ovarian cysts, castor oil packs can help.
So, to make what we call a Castor oil “pack” you only need a few things. Most items can be found online or at our health food store.
Here is a list of the things you will need:
- 1 clean piece of wool fabric
- Castor oil
- Glass bowl
- Heating Pad
- Old clothes that can be stained
- Plastic wrap
- Large towel
- Plastic Ziplock
First, you will need to put on some old clothes and prepare an area to lay down. Simply spread the towel out on a flat surface (I like my bed or couch) to keep the area mess-free.
Next, place your flannel in your glass bowl and pour enough Castor oil to completely saturate it. You will then lay down and carefully place the saturated piece of wool on your stomach.
Then cover the area with plastic wrap, and place the heating pad on top. Lay there and relax for forty-five minutes to an hour.
When you are finished take the wool and store it in a Ziplock bag in the refrigerator. Then when you are ready to go again simply add a little more Castor oil and enjoy.
So, try this out next time you are feeling a little under the weather, or even want to take a holistic approach to a preexisting condition. Please make sure to check with your doctor before proceeding.
