The only problem with making homemade granola is, you will want to eat it right out of the oven! The main ingredient in store-bought granola is sugar.
When you make your own granola you can make it as sweet as you want. As a result, your granola is healthier for you. In addition to being healthier, most of the ingredients for this recipe are items that are regularly stocked in the kitchen.
First, measure 3-4 cups of oats, add a 1/4 of cup of nuts and coconut pieces. The nice thing about this recipe is once you get the proportions right you can make several variations.
Next, add some cinnamon, nutmeg, or any other seasonings you prefer. The pumpkin spice mix works great!
Lastly, add 1/4 cup of melted coconut oil and 1/4 a cup of maple syrup. Raw honey is a sweeter that is never used for baking and is best used in non-baking recipes. Consequently, that is why most people like to use maple syrup as the sweeter.
Once the oats are mixed together with a light coat of the honey and oil, place the mixture on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Stir it and bake another 15 minutes.
The beauty of this recipe is tailoring it to your individual preferences. Some people like a lot of cinnamon and other spices, while others prefer a saltier version.
